Saturday, September 21st – What a great day for the GFFE Kids’ Spelling Bee! We lucked out with some beautiful fall weather to enjoy the Guilford Fair Parade and afternoon at the Fairgrounds. Although the Spelling Bee has been a highlight of the fair for over 40 years, GFFE has been sponsoring the event since 2017 and it always brings lots of excitement under the Big Tent. This year was no exception with a packed house and some epic spelling rounds! Our fabulous emcees, Julie Fitzpatrick and Peter Palumbo, lead our participants through the day with enthusiasm, poise and kindness.
The Kids’ Spelling Bee showcases students who passed the preliminary rounds in their respective classrooms in the 3rd through 6th grades. A total of 42 students participated this year on the stage and competed to win the trophy. The competition was so good we awarded two winners in both the 5th and 6th grade rounds! The amazing students that won their grades were:
3rd Grade: Clark Hetherington
4th Grade: Leena Petersen
5th Grade: Austin Payette & Reeves Knudsen
6th Grade: Gian Secondino & Richard McDermott
Congratulations to all of the students that participated - you made your families, schools, and town very proud! For more photos check out our gallery.
